The lights of Broadway
 
My daughter and I recently visited New York City. As we walked through Times Square one evening we noticed a group of oriental portrait artists working on the street. There must have been 8-10 doing charcoal portraits of the passersby. Of course we had to linger and watch. They were mostly very good. We watched as the artists spent about 20 minutes on each drawing. Each was done in charcoal.

After a while we decided that one man in particular was the best. I watched as this man finished 2 young Italian men in line ahead of us. His rendition of the two young men was right on the money. He would, as they all seem to, start with the inside corner of the sitter
