Need advice - broker or website? Both?
 

Hello - I haven't posted much to this forum, but have found it to be very useful in the past - thanks for being here, everyone!

I've been painting portraits for about 8 years (oil, pastel), have some clients but with the economy need to expand. I have won 2 awards in competitions - 1st place, 2008 Maryland Society of Portrait Painters and the Caruso Award for Portraiture, Maryland Federation of Art, 2009. Haven't entered any other competitions yet.

With raising children, etc. I have not started a website or contacted an agent.

Can anyone comment on the values of each? I've never been good at marketing, so it would help me to know if people are making money through their websites - or if there is more money to be made through an agent.

Thanks for the input - I live in the D.C. area, and have found The Portrait Group listed as a broker.

Do you recommend any agents/brokers in particular?
