Hi All

Recently a close friend of mine asked me if I woud be a guest artist on her forum . Susan Harrison-Tustain is an International Watercolour artist and she has been my coach and mentor since I first started painting 5 years ago. To be invited as a guest artist on her forum was very exciting and I jumped at the opportunity. The subject Susan and I chose was her own granddaughter Imogen.. this was an extreme challenge as I knew Susan had exceptional standards with respect to her own work and to match those standards was very intimidating.

Attached is the result of my challenge

Imogen in oil.
22 x 18
about 30 hours work

If any one would like to see the stages of the portrait please stop by http://www.susanart.com/forum/index.php?topic=389.150

Cheers Bruce

Very sweet. You captures so much expression that it really jumps out at you. Your mentor should be very happy with it!

Hi Patricia , yes Susan loves the painting, and also Shelley, Imogen's mother .. I'm very happy with the result.. It was a challenge doing it as a WIP, the stop, take pic, write some words , paint again,, stop.. write etc etc made it difficult to get into the zone.. it did make me study what I was actually doing though and I learnt quite a bit about my own technique.. Sounds funny, but I've never really analysed how I paint it just happens.. Thanks for taking the time to comment
