I would appreciate comments and advice on this piece. I worked from a photograph.

Hi Martin,
Your painting has a relaxed feeling to it, which is especially welcoming since my day has been very hectic. There are a few points that you might want to consider (but maybe its too late to change). The change in color for the right eyebrow appears too dramatic, and the color of the shadow on the forehead and the upper lip appears purple (this just might be my monitor). Although I do like the wispers of hair flying in the wind, there might be too many of them! (I sound like that movie about Mozart, "too many notes"). The remaining skin color is very well done. I hope these comments are helpful.

It's never too late with an oil painting! Thanks. Yes, your comments were useful and althought the photograph exagerated the colors a little I think you are right.

I agree with the colors, and the eyebrow -- but not the fly-away wisps! They are perfect!

Thanks Debra. Glad you agree - I liked them myself. I feel they convey the fleeting nature of childhood.

You might consider that the wind that blows her hair like that would also blow the grass? The grass reads as very static. . .
