Sad to say, this is my first post in sometime, but you gotta' get started again sometime!

This is a 30" x 24". Oil on linen. Lot's of fun posing these two.
I waited until the last minute to get a photo of the painting so the
frame is included here.

Glad to see you back at it. I really like this. I think it's a great pose - allows the viewer to read quite a bit into it regarding the relationship between the two. And it's confidently, beautifully painted.

Thank you both for your compliments. The parents were very pleased with the portrait as it is always gratifying to make someone happy and that they now have something in their possession they can share for generations to come. That's one of the reason's we do what we do anyway.

I still have a ways to go but am plugging away.

Hi Mike, it's so nice to see you back on here again. :) I really like the relationship you've shown between the siblings. The protective, nuturing quality of the girl is intriguing and tender. Congratulations!

I'm so glad you posted this. There is a natural, spontaneous feeling to it even though it is formally posed. I can look at it a long time, appreciating how you have portrayed the relationship between the brother and sister. It is amazing how strongly the girl's hand placed on her brother's radiates emotion. There is something direct and expressive (not coy or cute) in her gesture.

I agree. The relationship here feels accurate and natural, not forced. Real life wins everytime...

A lovely poetic expression of the sibling's relationship. The frame nicely picks up the stylization in your brushwork; it works as a whole.

Thanks to all of you for your acknowledgements. Your comments are an encouragement to me, particularly coming from those whose work I respect and admire.

I was told prior to beginning the painting that the two have a very close relationship with each other. This pose was one of the first poses during the photo shoot. They just gravitated toward each other. I was fortunate to capture that moment. There facial expressions were so natural.
