It's been a long time

I know I have been absent for a long time. It has taken me all this time to adjust to relocating to Atlanta. Anyways, here is the latest portrait I painted from life. My position here at Binders Art Supplies is Art Director so I was able to take advantage of Marvin being here and painted with the class for two days. I worked on it another day before taking this picture.

the group in this class were spectacular, allot of talented artists from all over the world (including Abu Dabi - Sarah won the award for coming the furthest!)

Thanks for looking.

Hi Patricia, it's nice to hear from you again. I'm glad to hear you're doing so well - and painting heads from life with Marvin is a great move. Please keep posting your studies for us!

Thank you, Linda.
The encouragement is appreciated. I seem to do well, when painting from life, but I do not do well at all when painting from an image. I don't have all the snazzy computers and cameras, but I am so in love with painting from life, some day I will afford the time to hire a model. Would like to hire this one back. I loved how regal she sits!

Wow, Pat! This is great--and I'm glad you are finding the time to do it. She has real substance and character.

Sounds like you've made some good career moves in your life! Congratulations on having the gumption to take on such big changes.

I've heard nothing but raves about Marvin's workshops.

Thank you Alexandra and Cynthia. I am learning so much, realizing that it takes a long time to build the experience to fill up workshop space, the artists I want to come to Atlanta are the best and so they are booked way ahead, some into late 2008. But Marvin, his classes sell out almost immediately, I guess I thought all the big names would!

Being in Marvin's class for two days I was suprised at how easily the painting flowed and I was thrilled. My painting felt stilted since relocating and the stress of it.

I don't know about you, and I should start a string in the Cafe, but I find I have to work at GETTING in the flow, but once I am there, it is heaven. When one has to work full time, as many of us do, the discipline is difficult for the fatigue.

Pat,

A beautiful substantial head. Painting from life is addicting.

I am glad to hear from you and your move sounds like a successful one.
