I have just finished a portrait commission of two girls. I thought it would be nice to share it with you. The dimensions are about 90 x 70 cm and oil on canvas. I am quite pleased with it.

Bianca, this is awesome! You have managed the values quite well, which gives the figures space and the three D look. I am sure your client and the children will love it. Good for you!

Bianca,

This portrait really invites the viewer to take a long look--it's so delightful. I like the way you've placed the two girls off-center, balanced by the cat. The colors work so well, the brushstrokes are lively and descriptive and varied, and the girls come across as real people with personalities.

Thanks Mischa and Alexandra for your enthousiasm! The family hasn't seen the portrait yet, but I think they will be pleased with it.

Dear Mischa and Alexandra,

I have shown the portrait to the family about a week ago and they are very happy with it! It was really a great commission. They may have an other commission in store for me; we'll wait and see. Now I am working on a smaller portrait 40 x 50 cm of a woman, she is about 60 and I have just finished a portrait of a boy (see unveilings new post).

Bianca, I had a good feeling about this one. I was sure that the family will love it. I am glad for you and I hope that this one brings you many more commissions.

HI Bianca -

I really like this too. The personalities of the girls are almost palpable and there is a very nice contemporary feel to this piece, without being "cold".

I've seen way too many contemporary-style portraits that might as well be of statues, they are so chilling. This one is warm and alive!
