Pastel study

Here's another one from a single session plus a lot of fiddling thereafter from memory! The model was backlit, from the side opposite my position. Any thoughts on all of the contrived pink? :sunnysmil A higher res. image is available at www.LegacyVisions.com

Where the hand meets the head, it looks like their merging together. After looking at it for a while, I can tell whats going on. If you could define the hand a little more, maybe it would clear up.

Nice work! You have a great feel for pastel. An interesting pose.

Perhaps the lack of hands in this is a bit troubling. The one is hidden, the other trails off. It may have been helpful to include her right hand somehow in the composition. Not possible perhaps.

I like the pink, since it is so well subdued.

Thanks guys. After the session, this piece of paper became to me all about losing the forms into shadow without allowing it to look like bad drawing. Guess I need something more around that pesky hand/turtleneck/jawline area. Maybe sharper shadow accents between the flesh forms and the pillow? Define the top edge of the hand?
