What a treat to wake up this morning to this exquisite painting.

Everything about it is lovely, the figure, the design, the color.

Nice to see you back Karin! Let's see some more!

This is a beautiful painting, very nice composition, beautiful light. I love the details.
And what a beautiful subject ! So, if I understand well, Galatea, who was carved by pygmalion, and brought to life by Aphrodite, was then carved by Howard Roberts, and brought to life ( or brought to colors) by you... What depth! Is it the meaning of the palette near her feet?

Lovely painting. Assuming that you used a photo of the statue as your subject, what did you do to arrange the compostion of the rest of the painting? Did you set up all that drapery yourself or did you use reference photos? Well done in any case.

Yes.

Other than the photo reference for the figure itself, the painting comes entirely from my imagination. It is hard to see in this photo but there is some subtle but fancy lettering & flourishes in the upper left hand drapery area - I seldom resist doing this if/when I can get away with it.

Hi Karin,

It is nice to see your work on line. I love the "old world" feel of all your paintings and you color choices.

Hello Karen,

Lovely painting, hope things are well with you.

This is beautifully painted, Karin, very dreamlike. I love the composition and the way the swirling forms relate to each other. I'm glad to see you posting your work again! How about some closeups?

Lovely work -- and what a great idea to create a painting based on a classical statue. So nice to see you on the Forum again, too, Karin.

As an artist, looking at this painting again, I can't help thinking about how on earth she's going to get all that oil paint from the palette out of that lovely white fabric!
