1 Attachment(s)
This is my third Bouguereau study in the last week. It's 13" sq, and I apologize for the glare.

Dear Richard,
Admirable copies!! I too, love Bouguereau, and wouldn't mind copying. When you've done so, where did you obtain your reference? Have you learned anyhing about what his painting approach was? If so, please share. Best, a. |
Hi Albert. Thanks. The ARC website has many hi-res WB images for download, which is one reaason why I chose him and have done so many. Here's a link to it: http://www.artrenewal.org/asp/database/art.asp?aid=7.
I have learned a few things, I think. First, he worked with values and neutrals. He didn't blend much, but placed colors carefully based on values needed. I think this allowed him to acheive that sparkly look. There may be more things I've learned that haven't come to the surface yet. But waht I've learned is changing the way I'm painting. My work is becoming faster, and more direct. |
Richard,
Thanks for the info. 'Nother question, may I presume from your posting that you obtained the image for your copies from the ARC site? If not, where, or where else? Thanks, a. |
