Being an Entrepreneur
An artist is a small business owner. Many of us know artists who pursue this career because they don't want to be "in the business world" or they want the freedom to "just paint." Make no mistake, though, a working artist needs business skills.
I recently subscribed to Entrepreneur Magazine. (Here's a recent article about meeting new potential clients that I found very interesting: http://www.entrepreneur.com/writers/...300965,00.html ) I thought many of you might find this magazine and their website to be useful in running your "small business", too. |
Thanks for the link Michele,
Looks to be a boatload of useful information to sort through. The URL posted above does not link to a specific topic, but rather to a page of about 50 articles. Although all look like interesting reading, is the specific article you are referring to the one posted on 9/26/05 entitled "Contacting Prospective Customers"? Read it and whole-heartedly agree - with the article and with your statement about how a successful artist needs to have (or develop) business smarts. Think I'll go read a few more before heading back to the studio. Thanks again. |
