Hi there,

First of all I apologize for the use of a flash to get this photo, the colours are quite close though, but any sparkly white bits aren't really there.

I took the expert advice from the panel ;) and moved the figure over.

I would have liked to have a smidgen more trouser leg showing but SOMEONE splashed water on the paper and there is a spot just cropped off where the textured surface has washed off :(

It also just happens to be exactly where the composition sketch, ok'ed by the client ,finished anyway, so maybe i'll get away with it.

Because I have such a bad time with composition I started messing about with this one to see if I could come up with what I thought was a better arrangement and have attached what IMHO is a better crop than the one the client wants.(She wants a full length portrait) Any comments will be gratefully received!

The image is approx 21" x 14" various pastels including my new set of 36 Great Americans. On sennelier pastel card.

Resizing accentuates his pointy ear, but i have rounded it out a bit.

Looks great.

You're probably going to want to crop just enough off the bottom so that the bottom edge of the jacket doesn't form a tangent with the frame, which would give the figure a lopped-off look. If the water damage is reparable (don't assume it isn't, especially in an area that far from the center of interest), my own preference would be to have the jacket hem above the frame, but you'll have to make that call.

Very nice. Your clients should be pleased.
