Eve's Alternative

I just wanted to share that this painting was accepted into the Oil Painters of America competition - to be held in Chicago this spring.
Apparently if you get into 3 of their national shows you get to put a nifty OPA behind your name. I have no idea how impressive that is, or to whom it might impress, but I like the idea of having letters behind my name. ;) This will be my first time in their competition. I do know Bill Whittaker is an OPA Master and Tim is is as well I believe. That's good enough for me. |
Kim,
Congratulations! This painting is beautiful. Let us know what happens! |
Thanks Chris :)
Dan Gerhartz is the juror this year. I met him and listened to him speak in San Antonio last year. I should have pinched him or something so he'd remember me. ;) |
This is a beautiful painting, Kim, and deserves to be in the show. I'm glad you're getting this recognition and congratulations!

Hmm - is pinching jurors such a great idea, Kimberly? Well, hey - whatever works! Also, if you have an OPA after your name, does it give you the leeway to shout "OPA!" and break plates? (I'm totally comfortable saying this, as my wife is Greek ;) ).
All right, all right. All kidding aside, I think this piece certainly deserves to be in any national show of high merit. Letters-after-one's-name notwithstanding, your work is the thing that impresses me! |
Thanks Linda & Rob!

This is one of my favorites of yours Kim, good luck!

Congratulations Kim!

Congratulations, Kim. The OPA shows certainly do bring in the big names. The 2004 show was near me and I went to visit the exhibition several times. You're running with the big doggies now!
