Painter with pearlish earring

Hi!
This is a self portrait I did an evening to try out the ground on which it is drawn. Done with charcoal and pearlish white pastel. The ground is a framed 90 x 90 cm foam board "dressed" with linen. At some point in the early stages of the drawing, or maybe even before I got started, I saw a resemblance in my expression with Vermeers "Girl with pearl earring". But in the end and after looking at Vermeers painting they are not much alike. Anyways, here goes... |
Hanna, this is lovely. And it definitely reminds me of the Vermeer. The drawing is beautifully done. I take it you were happy with the ground?

Hannah,
Really beautifully drawn. Nice to see you back with such a wonderful piece. |
Hanna, I really like how you've combined the "finished" face with a sketchier body, and I love your attitude in this portrait, too.
|
Hanna,
I'm surprised I missed this one, beautifully drawn and handled. |
