New model

I am excited because I found a new model that is just right for me. Beautiful, graceful, etc. I have only had an hour with her so far, but she lives close by and has nothing to do except fight off boys - so I can use her any time I want.

I am boldly stealing ideas from Bill Whittaker here - not that I am plannning a painting of these yet. I just love Bill's figuratives.

Hi Kimberly,

I have been wondering where you were, I've missed your enthusiastic posts and seeing all of your work! You have so much energy, you are an inspiration to me. These are both beautiful photos. You seem to have figured out how to get the shadows without getting them too dark! What kind of lighting set up do you use?

thanks,

Joan

Joan,

Thank you - what a sweet thing to say! I've been around, but painting other subjects mostly.

This lighting was just in my diningroom with her facing the windows - about 3:30pm. I believe the windows face west, but I am not absolutely sure.

Wow, Kim! She is a terrific model and it looks like she enjoys posing. She is well worth whatever you're paying her.

Take a million photos (and get yourself a good Model Release Form).

Just a quick suggestion: I would try putting the red scarf around the head or at least closer to her face, since red will pull the eye to wherever it's located on the canvas. (Many of the mid-20th-century Russian realist painters did this with their models, too.)

These are wonderful Kim. Looks like you guys had fun with this. I'm looking forward to seeing some paintings of her.

What a great model, Kim. I can see your beautiful paintings already. She has a beautiful, long neck and very expressive, large eyes, very nice. You must be excited!

Thanks for the red on the head tip Linda

I love these photos. They make me want to go to the Renaissance fair and sneak photos of unsuspecting guests. They're beautiful.

Kim,

These are luscious, I agree with Robert! You are soaring with your camera, and I admit to being envious of both you and your model's talents. Keep going and post more!

Wow Kim - great photos, great model. I'm excited for you that you have such a great model as a resource - it can make all the difference on the world.

I just wanted to small comment that as far as the last photo shown, the wide shot with her in the fountain, I'd suggest "moving" the hand that holds her dress up - it is currently right at the "crotch" area, and at first glance it looks rather unladylike.
