Thanks for that link. The whole painting of this man, Drachmann, looks like a cross between a Monet and a Sargent.

The other paintings on ths site seem very contemporary. If it weren't for the hundred year old clothing styles many of the paintings look as if they could have been done last year. A very fresh and modern style, somehow. Thanks for letting us know about this artist!

I like the other painting of Drachmann very much too, it has lots of bravura in the brushwork. I remember seeing Kroyer's delightful painting of the kids playing in the ocean, when I visited Copenhagen 20 years ago on a travel scholarship. The interpretation of bright sunlit effects is masterful (but since the kids are swimming unclothed, we can't show this here).
