Self-portrait in oil ...

I'm almost finished with this 18 x 24 oil on panel, and I thought I'd post here to see if anyone sees something really sticking out. As usual, I have no problem scraping it down. I recognize that I'm a beginner and so I try not to see a painting as so precious that I'm resistant to doing what's necessary to bring it up a notch. I have finally found a teacher willing to work with me and so I will continue painting this Spring and Summer, as opposed to hanging it up once warm weather gets here, which is my usual practice. I also expect my portraits will eventually reflect having finally learned the basics properly. We'll see. I have my fingers crossed. :D

I should also mention that the reddish coloration in the cheeks has changed and a bit of Alizarin has been scrubbed into the nose where the light is falling on it.

Hugely grateful for any suggestions at all ...
