David Leffel

Has anyone studied recently with David Leffel? I'd appreciate any thoughts, positive or negative.

Thanks

David is a good friend of mine and a wonderful painter. He is also a great teacher in the art of painting in oil. If you have a chance to study from him, by all means do so. I recommend all my students to study with him if they can.

I was very impressed with his demo at the portrait conference in Boston. I would love to take a workshop with him, but I don't know of any. I checked the recent issues of the art magazines and did a google search on the web. Maybe I accidently overlooked something, but I didn't see any workshops. Do you know how I can find out about his workshop schedule?

Not comprehensive, just the results of a quick pearl dive:

He's apparently just completed a workshop in the Fechin Art Workshops program near Taos, NM, and will repeat it in August.

He was at Scottsdale in April, but unfortunately does not appear to be returning there in 2004.

Multiple 5-day workshops at the Art Students League in June.

Talk and workshop tentatively scheduled July 6 in Ventura, CA.

July 12-16 at Laguna Beach, CA

October 4-8 at Loveland Academy.

Plan ahead, March 28-April 1, 2005, at Fredericksburg Artists School, in Fredericksburg, Texas, 75 miles west of Austin.

Signilar has some nice video instruction from Leffel.

A number of other books, videos, and CDs are available as well.

Steven and Cynthia,
Thanks for the info. I'm going to visit the different links and hopefully come up with a plan of action.
:)
