Hi, just finished this earlier today at work. It's about 14x18, graphite/white pastel pencil on light gray Stonehenge paper. Thanks for looking.

Another winner!
I love your work!

Beautiful work Jimmie, I like the way you left a portion of the drawing unfinished at the bottom of the figure, it adds quality and interest to the composition.

Very lovely, Jimmie.

I think it's your judicious use of your lightest lights and darkest darks that distinguishes your drawings. The amount of work done by highlights and accents (the dark counterpart of highlights) -- especially in monochromatic work -- can hardly be overstated, yet it's often overlooked or at least underappreciated.

Jimmie,
Another well composed and executed drawing. Do I detect a slightly looser touch with the pencil, especially on the edges? It has a tasty, soft feel that I very much appreciate. |
Another beautifully rendered drawing Jimmie. Your technique reminds me of Anthony Ryder's.
I also noticed, as Mike M. pointed out, a little more "looseness" in this drawing than your previous works, particularly around the edges of the subject's arms. I too find this interesting. |
Fantastic work, Jimmie. As always.
I bought some Stonehenge paper the other day, so now I'll be able to draw as well as you :D |
Jimmie,
Another beautiful portrait. Could I ask that you post a close up of the face? I am very interested in your level of carrying the darks to their darkest and lights to the lightest. Steven's remark about the "amount of work done by highlights and accents...can hardly be overstated" make me want to look more closely as your work as this is exactly the area I struggle with. Thanks, Jimmie. Love your work... |
