This is the second shoot for this little one. He's 4 years old and, after the first shoot, then photo selection then subsequent 2 drawings, the mother was unhappy with the original pose. So...I reshot at MY studio, not their home so I could regulate the light better. I have a tall, narrow window and also a "natural light" bulb with a giant silver umbrella to fill. Sometimes I just use artificial light, so here's the result. The finished product will be a black and white drawing.

I vote for #3. I love that head down/eyes up look for children. (I just wish you'd gotten him out of the t-shirt neckline.)

#1 highlights his asymmetrical facial features. If you draw horizontal lines at his lips, nostrils and inner eye corners you'll see what I mean. Also, that slightly crossed eye may prove a challenge.

Many children go through this stage and often outgrow it as they get older. This boy is cute and it would be a shame to highlight something that he will probably just outgrow anyway.

#2 shadows his eyes too much for my taste.

Good photos!
