Hello again, everyone,

Please read my message to you all in the oil critique section. Once again, thank you Steven for posting another one of my pieces.

This is from a life drawing session and artistic anatomy class that I was attending in New York.
I wanted to share a drawing as well, and like the painting, am open to critiques because that's how I learn to get better.

Let me say also what an invaluable, and generous action it is that you (Pros) take the time to give critiques. Thank you!

Magdalena

A nice little drawing from a life session.

Only a couple of comments. Even if accurate, that "double chin" isn't too flattering. I'd greatly reduce the reflected light under the chin and largely eliminate the dark contour lines in that area (let the boundaries of the value shapes be your "lines", to keep it soft.)

You've indicated a shadow on the side of the nose, and whatever light is creating that would, I think, cause the eye socket on our right to be in a bit more shadow, especially between the eye and the nose.

Lastly, I'd be surprised if the distance between the bottom of the nose and the top of the upper lip weren't a little short (or perhaps the nose is just a bit long), but of course I don't have the model to look at, so there's not much more to observe about that.

Nicely drawn.

Hello Steven,

Yes, I see the problem with the reflected light under her chin. You're right about the value in her, our right, eye, and it may be the length of her nose as you indicated. Thank you for pointing these out, I'll go back to it and attempt to post it. Will let you know how it goes.

Fondly, Magdalena
