I wanted to say hello & introduce myself. I have been burning up my eyes reading all the informative posts for about a week now. There are some wonderful artists and great tips here.

I have been a full-time artist for about 16 years now. I paint in oil, acrylic & liquid acrylic. By far, portraits are my favorite subjects. I also paint landscapes, still lifes, florals, etc.

At present my family & I live in Uvalde, Texas. I have a studio on the downtown square here that is open to the public. I hang some of my work there along with a few pieces by other local artists. It's a wonderful space that used to be a bar with the old western bordello upstairs. I also give lessons - this summer it is little kids summer art camp (my children begged for it). I do not have too much walk-in traffic (maybe 5-10 people per day) so I can paint undisturbed most days. I have had this place since January of this year and it's been heaven.

I am looking forward to getting some of my paintings in the critique section to make use of the wealth of knowledge here. I spend my days painting and conversing with potential clients. I do not know too many other artists - just being able to let my guard down and admit I might need help with a certain area is going to be very liberating. Thank you & nice to meet you all!

The piece I am trying to attach is called
"NH Couple", oil, 20" x 24".

I am not sure I have the pixel thing down yet.

Hi Kimberly,

Your pixels came out fine. I enjoyed your website. I think your prices are fairly low. I hope that makes your art accessible while still paying the bills.

Looking forward to your contributions to the board.

Jeff

Jeff,

Thank you.

Yes, my prices are low. I have never agressively marketed myself due to the children and moving for my husband's career. I have kept busy, but at the local level wherever we have lived. This past year my youngest finally entered school and it is almost as if I can now restart my career. I am planning on attending workshops this upcoming year, entering competitions, pursuing more gallery representation, etc. Hopefully my prices will increase in relation to all that. My studio & website are fairly new so I am jazzed about it all. As for paying the bills, hmmm, maybe that's why the lights went off today. Anybody have a candle?
