Raves for Peggy Baumgartner's workshop

Hi all,

I'm about to gush madly about how awesome the 7 day workshop of Margaret (Peggy) Baumagartner's is. For those of you who prefer a get-to-point-fast summary, let me just say now that this was the best knowledge-gaining experence I think I've ever been in.

First, let me say La Crosse is the perfect place to attend a workshop. It's conveniently between Chicago and Minneapolis. It's "small town" enough to offer safe streets, big enough to have a diverse range of fun things to do and place to dine, but not so big that it distracts you from why you're there - to be a better artist and painter.

O.K., on to the workshop...
Peggy is an exceptional teacher. She has it all - mountains of knowledge, limitless energy, and willingness to share all she's learned along the way about becoming and flourishing as an artist.

Her passion is not only for creating beautiful portraiture art but for making those portraits with a sound approach; ultimately helping us execute our works with efficiency and with confident hand.

As for what I came away with - Peggy didn't "give me fish", she taught me how to fish. Let me just say I had just completed an Art Fair the weekend prior to the workshop, and had the astounding joy of receiving over 20 (yes 20!) commissions! I'm about to go "Pro" and Peggy's workshop will enable me to take my own style and bring to a whole new level both technically and artistically.

Each artist ended up doing two paintings - one of a female model, one of a guy.

Linda,

This is pretty remarkable. What is an Art Fair, as practiced in the north country? Are there drugs involved?

Yes!

Peggy holds nothing back; she

What are the dates of this workshop?

Hi Tim,

I should have put this thread in the "discussions" catagory of workshops, not the "announcements" thread - sorry my error. Please refer to Peggy's website for her future workshops dates (and perhaps call her, as at the time I signed up there was another available that had just been formed, but not posted).

Mike - no drugs, but I was high as a kite by the end of the show - I've posted photos of the booth in the "member news" category, along with my announcement of going pro.

Mari - Thanks for the encouragement!

Linda :)

Tim,

Peggy will be in Laguna Hills, California October 11th through 17th, 2003.

She will be one of the judges at the October 10th Southern California-American Soceity of Portrait Artists Portrait Competition. The competition and the workshop is open to anyone interested and you can read about it on our web site at http://members.cox.net/socal-asopa

Linda, I am so happy to hear that the workshop was such a success for you and can hardly wait to attend Peggy's workshop in October.

Enzie, I don't think I saw a size limit, is that right? Pretty exciting!
