New Website

I would like to invite the forum members to visit my new website at

www.KirkRichards.com

In addition to my paintings I have included a few articles which might be of interest to this group, based upon some of the topics in the archives. Articles include a brief synopsis of the atelier curriculum as it is practiced in the Boston/Minneapolis tradition, two responses to the David Hockney theory concerning the use of optics; one by Gregg Kreutz and the other by me, and a very good article on just exactly what

Thank you for posting this link, Kirk.

Your site is beautiful, and I'm particularly grateful that you've included a library of articles that might interest visitors researching classical realism. (I've come across more than one dead link while researching ateliers...)

I am also grateful that clicking each image unveils a hi-resolution scan.

Beautiful galleries, and I look forward to reading through your library and your links.

Now, back to those Bargue lithos,

Kirk,

What a wonderful site with a beautiful selection of work. Thanks for posting the high-res images, I love seeing the intricate detail. I haven't looked at your articles yet, but I'm sure they will be informative.

Thanks, Kirk for posting this. I have bookmarked your site for later perusal -- for evenings when I'm too tired to paint but can't stop thinking about art!

Mari, Mai, Holly and Michele,

Thank you for taking the time to look and comment. As a neophyte in the world of designing webpages your thoughts are much appreciated.

Hi Kirk,

Your site is very nice - but the nicest part is the fact that I can see the beautiful details of your work in the High Resolution images. What beautiful skintones and I especially love the expression on Pandora's face. Her mouth is great!!

Your work always keeps me inspired to keep at this -

Thanks!
Denise

Thanks Denise,

The mouth of Pandora is something that was fun for an unusual reason. The model, a college student from Armenia, sat numerous times for this painting, as I painted it from life. I guess the oddness of the situation for her was always in her mind. She would assume the pose and before long she would start to smile and then have difficulty in not laughing. I don't think she was concerned with what the piece would ultimately look like, she only saw herself sitting in a room, staring into an empty box.

It was one of those situations that was like giggling in church, the harder you try to stop, the worse it gets.

When she finally got used to the pose, she was a wonderful model.

Kirk
