Hello all,

I am just starting out in the wonderful business of portraiture. I graduated from Louisiana Tech University in the Spring of 2002 with BFAs in Studio Art and Graphic Design. The logic there was to paint for a living without spending a fortune on advertising. I recently discovered I will still be spending a fortune on advertising. Oh, well. At least I'm now equipped with a laptop, printer, and scanner. They come in very handy! I just moved to Austin, TX, and I am ready to start working! Now, all I need are commissions (seen any lying around, lately?). At any rate, I'm glad to be on this forum and I'm curious to know how you all feel about my work. I've attached a portrait I just finished. It was painted for my portfolio, not a client. Perhaps I will actually get paid to paint soon. That would be nice!

Hi, Sandra,

Welcome and good luck on your intended venture. I'm heading for Austin myself soon, so if you get more commissions than you can handle, tell 'em "help" is on the way!

If you're looking for in-depth comments on your work, you'll be more likely to attract them by posting the images in the Critiques section.

Again, nice to have you on board.
