24" X 18" vine charcoal on Strathmore charcoal paper. These girls sat one at a time for ten minutes each, the youngest one first. The first would not look at me. She was too shy. So I had the second sister look in the same direction.

Lon,

Amazing job once again. Last summer my daughter and I visited New York City and watched a group of oriental portrait artist work in Times Square. They would make their first marks in the inside corner of the subjects right eye. Where do you begin?

Top to bottom. left to right of the overall form of the hair and torso. Then I shade before making a mark on the features. Then the eyebrow on the left, and so forth. You will never see me starting with the eyes. That is like building a house and starting with the windows.
