How to resize an image before posting

Cynthia has provided an excellent demonstration on how to attach an image to this forum.
However, it is not clear to everyone how to resize the image so that it fits the forum's size-guidelines (image cannot exceed 600 pixels high by 400 pixels wide).

Here is a basic overview using Adobe Photoshop. If you do not use Photoshop, look carefully at the imaging software you're using; most operate along the same principals.

Step one:

At the top of the page, along the menu tabs, look for the one labeled "image" and select. A dropdown menu will appear. From this dropdown, select "image size".

Step two:

When you click on "image size," a dialog box will pop up. Inside this box, you'll have several options. The most important will be under pixel dimensions. If the unit does not default to pixels, change the two upper right hand boxes to read "pixels".

I usually change the width to 400, and the height automatically is filled in, keeping the image in its original scale.

Click ok.

Save your image; remember that the file name should not include any spaces.

If there are still questions, I'd be glad to elaborate on any of these steps.
