Hello from Portugal !

Hi there! I am new here, and this is my first post on this Forum.

My name is Rui, I am writing from Portugal, from Lisbon, more precisely. I am 35 years old, I made my studies in mathematics, both in Lisbon and Geneva, Switzerland. Right now I work in the banking business, here in Lisbon. I am new in arts, and after reading all your messages for months, I decided to have a try on oil painting portraits.

This means I have not much to show right now. In fact, what I really have is Chris Saper's book on one hand, and a lot of enthusiasm, and this wonderful site on the other.

I am beginning a friend's portrait right now, just finished to set my easel and all the stuff, and I suppose I will have my first results by tomorow. Of course I will show them right away.

I am aware of the quality of the professional people and works shown here, and I know I won't be able give you such quality. But I will do my best!

I have a great admiration for all the artists that are participating on this Forum.

Thanks to you all. See you soon!
Rui

Post Scriptum: as you just saw, my English is not exactly Shakespeare's one, so, please, be patient with me. :)

Rui, I think your English is terrific!

Chris Saper's book is one of the best first steps you can make when starting out on your own. Peggy Baumgaertner's video series is great too. ;)
