Etiquette and Conduct

Posting privileges in the Portrait Artist Forum Discussion areas are available to all approved members and moderators. In an effort to provide high quality discussions and to encourage members to participate, all discussion areas are monitored. Postings that violate the terms outlined in the Portrait Artist Forum Member agreement will be removed.

Portrait Artist Forum members and moderators represent a wide variety of backgrounds, beliefs, and opinions. Disagreements are inevitable but should not become personal. A few tips on handling aggressive posts and differences of opinion:

1. Put things in perspective. If a post is made that appears to cross the line, remember that it's transient and will be forgotten.

2. Don't take things personally. We don't know each other and aren't communicating face to face. As a result, misunderstandings and confusion can easily occur. If someone appears to attack your ideas or opinion, don't take it the wrong way. Agree to disagree and move on.

3. Be tolerant. Respect the beliefs and opinions of others.

4. Don't post while feeling upset or angry. Take a break and return to the discussion later.

4. Use humor or poke fun at yourself to help defuse hostile situations. Avoiding the use of bitterness or ridicule will make you feel better while putting fellow posters firmly on your side. Humor is a powerful weapon so use it with caution and kindness.

Thank you,
The Portrait Artist Forum Staff
