This is something I have done a while ago and I feel it could be improved in some areas. I would like your recommendations.

Here is the original photo by my friend Al Sadrpour.

Good Job

One thing that stands out to me is the lack of contrast within her face; the smock she is wearing in the picture is dark, almost black, and you did really well carrying that over. In my opinion, I would examine her face and gradually build up the tones around her cheek bones and other areas, as well as lengthening her mouth - it's a tad bit longer in your reference photo.

My first thoughts as it began to open were, "Quite detailed! She is older than Yoda!"

I am not an expert in pencil work that is as detailed as this. It seems that when people detail pencil this much, it tends to get stiff looking. It is rather hard to prevent. There needs to be more thought to style and expression. I cannot say exactly how it can be achieved.

The light on the viewer's left cheek tends to break in a straight line, which is uncharateristic.

Robert and Lon,

I thank you for your observations and will work on them. I love this lady's character. She seems to know something we don't. She is worth the effort of taking her out of her frame and making her breathe!
