Meagan
1 Attachment(s)
Hi, my name is Jean Kelly, and I am a beginning potrait artist in Madison, WI. I hope this works (image) as I am not computer literate. I've photographed my painting with a digital camera and work on a Mac with iphoto. Meagan is painted with air brush ink, mixed with pastel, on linen. I paint with the ink like it was acrylic; it can be mixed with water for a wash, or used as thick as I want for intense colors. For even more depth, I paint into the added pastel (soft).
This was a candid shot that her parents took of Meagan with 4 week old puppies. There actually were 10 of them (puppies) and at times she was covered with all. Original picture had very bad lighting, but the subject material was so warm and wonderful that I went ahead anyway. What do you think? The client has asked me to do a portrait of their older daughter also, so will be working on that soon. |

Detail of Meagan's face.

I'm not a professional, but I think it's great! I'm sure the parents were very happy!
Will this hang on the wall or is it going to be used like a quilt? (Intrigued by another of your posts about the materials you use). |
Meagan
Thanks for your interest, Carolyn. I've also admired your collage posted here, ( and intrigued) but I'll get to that later. "Meagan" is a normal portrait, meant to be hung on a wall. The only thing unusual about it is the medium. And I don't have a clue on how to classify it. It's kind of an acrylic, kind of watercolor, kinda ink, kinda pastel. Throwing these in the dryer is the scariest part! Now for yours. How did you do the scarf?

Pasteracryink
Whatever it is, it really seems to be working for you! Can't wait to see more.

Pasteracryink?
Has a nice ring to it. I'm still trying to get more info from the manufacturer on permanancy over years (500). Will it still be around as a piece of art? Oh well, I figure nothing's permanent anyway, so enjoy all I can now. I'll be posting some more tonight after Tom is home. I need his expertise on the computer.
