This is a portrait of my friend Jason. Any thoughts?

Hello, Joe!

Welcome! I assume your friend Jason has a great sense of humor, to pose like that, so he won't object to being immortalized with that expression! :D

I think your technique for rendering form and skin texture is excellent. There is a lot of drama in your style. I can't wait to see it put to use on a serious subject. ;)

Keep painting, and showing us your work.

Face is excellent, hand needs more work, try more variation in pose between the two straight fingers.

Thank you both for your comments. I will be showing more soon.

Really rather impressive, considering the poor lighting! I like the hands, as they show the twisting of the joints as pressure is applied. The skin tones are very convincing, the form is great. I would not have chosen to paint with front light as you have done, but you have done it well!
