New Gallery representation

Hello again

I have been very busy with too many non-art-related things recently and have not managed to post here for a while. I am currently working on a painting that has undergone many, many overhauls, and which I will post once it is complete.

Just recently, though, I have been given the opportunity to show my work at the Noel Hodnett Gallery in Vancouver B.C., which is host to artists such as Anton Chapman, Lazso George, and Hiro Yamagata amongst others. I will participate in a group show this year and will work towards having a solo show in 2009.

The gallery will be printing limited edition giclee prints on archival cotton paper or canvas in various sizes too, as an ongoing venture.

Here's the link to the gallery: Noel Hodnett Gallery

Hopefully this will be the start of something long-term.

(p.s. I posted an older work form the year after my 4th year at university - just until I finally finish something new to post)

Very exciting, congratulations!! It looks like a good place for your work!

Alexandra Tyng 03-21-2008 08:56 PM

That is such good news--congratulations, Thomasin! It looks like a good gallery for your work and I'm so pleased for you.

Thomasin Dewhurst 03-22-2008 12:17 PM

Thank-you very much Chris and Alex. I am hoping that, because of the other work the gallery shows, it will attract quite a bit of press interest, which is always helpful to one's career, isn't it?

Linda Brandon 03-23-2008 12:47 AM

Congratulations, Thomasin! It's a wonderful thing to have a gallery who believes in you. This is really exciting news - please keep us posted on what happens.

Carlos Ygoa 03-25-2008 06:23 AM

Good for you, Thomasin...congratulations. Wish you all the success in your upcoming shows and a fruitful relationship with this new gallery.

Very nice piece you posted, by the way. It has movement and even sound is implied--very intriguing.

That's good news, Thomasin ! I'm very happy for you!

Thomasin Dewhurst 03-25-2008 01:56 PM

Thanks Linda, Carlos and Marina. And thank-you, Carlos, for commenting on the painting. I enjoy painting musical and theatrical themes. I just saw a production of Carmen this Sunday and was inspired to paint something along those lines once I am (finally) finished with my current painting. There were lots of jagged lines and wonderful reds in the sets, which might be a good challenge from the usual earth colours I paint with.

Congratulations Thomasin!

I thought I would add to this thread that the iart Gallery in Cape Town, South Africa has, out of the blue after finding my website, shown some keen interest in my work just recently, and would like me to participate in about 5 shows this year and a possible solo show next year. From having about one exhibition to participate in a year for the past 5 or 6 years to this, I wonder if I will be able to keep up.

Here's two links to the gallery:

Outside View.

For the first couple of shows, starting in July, I'll be sending "Nude in Blue Hat", "Mother with Child" (attached with this thread), "Self-portrait as Shelmerdine", "Woman Holding White Hat" (attached with this thread), and "Portrait 2".

Details of the shows at this gallery and the Hodnett Gallery, if you are interested, are on my website: www.thomasindewhurst.com

My cupboards with be bare! I'd better get working to fill them again!

Wow, that is great news, Thomasin! I am so happy for you. I know this is just the start, that you are going places with your artwork.

Thomasin, that is wonderful news and I am very happy for you. You are going to be one rather busy lady this year! :)

Thank-you Alex, Enzie, Ilaria, David and Sharon for your warm comments. I appreciate them very much. South Africa has, for me, been in the past a very good environment for exhibiting and selling art. I am excited to be showing there again.

Carlos Ygoa 06-19-2008 05:41 PM

It was only natural and to be expected that another gallery would be interested in showing your work. And I

Thomasin,

This is a lovely exhibition space and I love that your painting is not sharing wall space with any other art work. This puts the whole emphasize and attention on your work. Congratulations!

Alexandra Tyng 08-31-2008 06:43 PM

Thomasin, thank you for sharing the photo and link. You so totally deserve to be in this exhibition!

Mary Ann Archibald 09-01-2008 06:44 PM

Congratulations. I think the gallery is lucky to have you.
