Good humored children

Hi everyone

I need inventory and my good humored kids like the money they make modeling. These are some quick pastels I have completed recently on Wallis paper..

I appreciate all comments

These are very nice, Vianna. I especially like the painterly quality of the boy.

Vianna, I love these! So lush and nicely drawn. I really admire the way you use fresh color. That yellow placed next to the shadow is a brilliant idea.

I hope you are swimming in portrait commissions, because you deserve to be.

Vianna, I love them, too! Your kids just get better and better looking. You really do use color in such an exciting way. LIght and shadow patterns become strong elements in the composition. We should all take a lesson from you on dramatic lighting. I especially like the pose, color and composition of the one of your son.

Vianna, these are absolutely vibrant! Thank you for posting these.

Thank you for the comments Thomasin, Linda, Alexandra, and Mischa.

These were a lot of fun to set up. The kids are real troopers about posing and twisting and having hot lights pointing at them. I really enjoyed painting the red shawl against my daughters pale skin and using it as a major compositional element. She is very dramatic and can strike some great poses. I like that you responded so well to my sons painting. I loved the teenage boy slouch and the strong shadow seemed to fit with all the uncertainty and hope of his age. I am hoping to do an oil of him with his banjo before he graduates.

Linda, I have been fitting these around some commissions I am finishing up. The economy in Michigan is very bad but one good thing is all those buy-out employees want art lessons.

Thank you again for taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it.

You PAY them to model and feed them as well.

Vianna, these are gorgeous! Lush, rich, unfussied color.

Hi Sharon,

I am also saving for their college! I hope there is a good nursing home in this deal for me.

Thank you for your kind words.

I hope so! They should be grateful for these exquisite paintings of them.

I think they should pay for the portraits, they are so beautiful.

Michele Rushworth 04-14-2007 11:05 AM

Lovely work, especially the one of your son!

Karine Monaco 04-14-2007 12:44 PM

I echo everyone: very nice, and vibrant, that's exactly the word...
Congratulations.

Thank you Claudemir, Michele, and Karine.

An oil portrait of my son was accepted into the Oil Painters of America National show in Texas. It's handy to have good subjects roaming about my house.

Thanks again,
Vianna

These are lovely paintings...I especially like the atypical low light source in the painting of your son.

Many congratulations on your award also.

Thank you Chris, Marina, and Tom.

It has been fun to drag out the pastels again after a hiatus. Thank you for your kind words.
