Hello everyone, :thumbside
I think it's about time I posted an introduction in the forum before I get too comfortable in my lurking mode. I'm Kang from Malaysia studying in the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto. I really only started painting the figure in September 2004 so I've still got a long way to go. Painting the figure has such a steep learning curve!

So far this is the closest thing to a portrait that I've done, but I'm planning on doing a self portrait in the near future. The rest of my other stuff are all nudes & a couple of casts. Maybe I will post the nudes in the nude section one day.

Hello Kang,
I'm from Singapore, and it's so nice to know i have a "neighbour" joining this Forum. And it's nice to hear you have a chance to study art in Canada! Hope to see more of your works!

Wow! I am in awe of this painting, can't wait to see more!

Please do post more of your nudes, and welcome to the forum. :D

Great skin tones - you can tell that's painted from life.

welcome!

Ps.

I enjoyed very much browsing your website.
I specially liked "Natalie" and "Gaye".

Dear Kang,

Welcome, it is so exciting to see your work - your training in painting from life really shows!

You will be an asset here!

Welcome Kang!

This is a wonderfully successful example of color development in a portrait with a challenging lighting situation. I am very impressed! There is a lot we all can learn from this example. I look forward to your coming posts, and yes, do put some works in the Nude Unveilings section.

Thanks for posting this,

Garth

I just love your colours and lighting. You are very fortunate to have studied there, I too hope I get a chance to gain this type of training as well. Keep up the great work and I will watch with interest when you post more images. Welcome to the forum, there is a mindfield of info here that I am sure you will find beneficial.

Welcome Kang, you'll be a great asset here. I enjoyed looking at your website, great work! I'm at an atelier here in Minneapolis, just starting my third year.

Although your work is a fine endorsement of the Academy in Toronto, I would be most interested to hear more about it from someone who is studying there. I have a feeling that I would like to attend part time, but the nasty commute makes me reluctant. Maybe you can change my mind.

Lovely work on your website!

Janet
