I hope I can call this done. I worked over the shirt twice since the last post in the pastel critique section. Tried giving it a bit more life with the wrinkles and shifted it towards the blue side. I like it, for now. Just hoping the next one does'nt drive me as nuts, altho I'm sure it will because the colors will be limited.

The final size here is 15x18" on Belgium Gray Wallis paper. Thanks to all who commented, encouraged and especially critiqued the progress. It helped a lot! Thanks.

Wow Jimmie, I can't believe you have only started with pastels. You certainly know what you are doing. I love her hair.

David Draime 04-07-2005 10:11 AM

Beautiful. Luscious. Gorgeous....eye candy. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Nicely done, Jimmie -

The colors are SO nice. And I like how you have toned down the shirt - the form bothered me at first, but couldn't say why. Now you have used it to give physical dimensionality to the model's body. The clues are there, subtle, but thorough.

Beautiful, Jimmie!

It came out terrific Jimmie. Rock on guy.

For sure Jimmie, that's great!

Jimmie, this turned out great. How you re-worked her shirt turned out beautifully and the blue light in her hair is really cool.

She's lovely Jimmie. And just a short while ago, you were afraid of color. Soon you'll be winning awards for your works in "full color".

Jimmie, you just keep blowing me away! Love the hair especially!

Janel Maples 04-08-2005 02:00 PM

Wow. You have been really fun to watch. Congratulations!!

Jimmie Arroyo 04-08-2005 02:16 PM

Thanks so much guys. I really did'nt think this was gonna be such a pain as it turned out being. I hope to have learned from this one to better my next, which I have already started. I'm enjoying the pastels (not the fustration) but the way it comes together when I finally get myself into a groove.

Thanks again.

Jimmie, it is just gorgeous! I know you seem to "think" it is harder to do these while doing them, but you make it look like it was done with ease.

Jimmie Arroyo 04-10-2005 11:55 PM

Thanks Mary, if you were a fly on my wall, you'd wonder why I curse so much. :o

Korinne, Jimmie, and a few others, including Kathryn and Traci in Blue, paid a visit to my studio yesterday. I must say I was not dissapointed, except that their visit was so brief. Jimmie, your work looks even more awesome in person. It was great to finally meet you!

You and your women can visit anytime!

Garth

Jimmie, I have finally picked up my jaw so I am now able to say that this is jaw dropping. I'm jealous I didn't get to see it in person.

Jimmie Arroyo 04-15-2005 01:21 AM

Thank you Garth for showing me around Philly, can't thank you enough. The pleasure was all mine.

Lisa, thank you. I'll let you see it in person. Let's see, if you left now by yourself, took a nap at 8am, you could be here by late tomorrow night. If you come with a buddy, you could be here tomorrow early afternoon. Cool, I'll see you then. :o

Thanks again.

Lisa Ober 04-15-2005 01:36 AM

Jimmie, totally tempting. You should be careful with invites like that. I just might show up one day with a notebook to take notes and learn something and after a long trip like that you'd have to feed me too. Dangerous offer. Dangerous.
