Way to go Linda! Well - deserved!

Garth Herrick 04-04-2005 03:20 AM

Such a bold composition, Linda; I am not surprised at your award! There is such a rich counterpoint between Claire and the wallpaper. Having met your subject, I can verify how well you have caught her. Remember, based on this painting, I spotted Claire from a block away even before you did (having never met her before)!

Can't wait to see this (and you) in D.C.

Garth

Oh Linda, Congratulations! Such a striking painting - well deserved!

Tom Edgerton 04-04-2005 10:06 AM

My connection has been down for a few days with our move...

Congratulations, Linda! It's a great painting.

Michele Rushworth 04-04-2005 10:14 AM

Congratulations -- this is a well deserved award!

David Draime 04-04-2005 10:33 AM

What a fantastic painting! I've enjoyed it many times while visiting your website. Looking forward to seeing it and you in May. Congrats!!!

Linda Brandon 04-04-2005 10:50 AM

Dear Linda, Kim, Garth, Teri, Tom, Michele and David,

Thank you so much for saying these kind words! I'm also looking forward to meeting folks in May. I hope I can get my swollen head through the hatch to board the plane to Washington. But this painting won't be there - as I understand it, only the Finalists are exhibited; the Merit Awards and the Certifcates of Recognition are shown via slide.

Chris Saper 04-04-2005 11:06 AM

Congratulations, so well earned!

Try this one Linda. This new Airbus 380 is said to have the largest hatch in the business.

Actually, I find that my own head has swollen some just because I've met you. I'm tempted to post a photo of you, but I fear harsh retaliation.

These last few painting of yours are really very fine.

Patricia Joyce 04-05-2005 10:48 AM

Congratulations, Linda!
I do love this painting of yours, especially with the background!

Linda Brandon 04-05-2005 10:55 AM

Thank you Chris, Patricia and Mike. Mike, I might have to check my head with oversized baggage since I can't get it into the overhead compartment on those planes.

Jean Kelly 04-05-2005 11:21 AM

A big congratulation from me! This is one of my favorite paintings of yours. A little recognition is good for the soul.

And by the way I'm finally remembering to post a closeup of the hands:

You should post this image in the thread "show of hands"! They are a show!!

Linda, since you first posted this this beautiful painting it has become a resource for me. Just to see how you accomplished the beautiful hair and skin - well, everything about the painting - is inspiring. Wonderfully deserved recognition. Now, that's justice.

Can I name drop now that you're so famous?

Wow Linda, your hard work is paying off for you. Well done and congrats!

You are always an inspiration to me.

Linda Brandon 04-10-2005 11:14 AM

Jean, Beth, Claudemir, Carol and Ngaire, you are all very kind to post these comments, which are so encouraging to me. Thank you!

Beth, I think my big head problem may resolve itself because I pounded it against the wall all week over a painting I've been struggling with. I think I've got it compacted back to its original size by now.

Enzie Shahmiri 04-10-2005 03:42 PM

Dear Linda, I must have missed this. Please accept my belated congratulation as well.

Rob Sullivan 04-12-2005 11:57 AM

Man, I'm so asleep at the wheel, that I took out a Hummer and a state trooper before I woke up and saw this!

Linda! Whoa! This is awesome. Jimmie and I are on the same page in that this is my favorite Linda Brandon piece, period. Accolades will continue, the more this is exposed to the public - and deservedly so!

Huge congratulations and warm wishes to you! You deserve a limo ride to Washington for this one.

Jane Bradley 04-12-2005 12:51 PM

Congratulations Linda!!!! I am not surprised at the recognition. I have looked at this piece often.
