I just went in on this Orpen site: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Ca...:William_Orpen I almost posted this feathered lady. Orpen had more fun than Sargent, it seems. |
Not sure if it is Antonio Mancini you are referring to?

Hi again Mischa, yes, Antonio Mancini is the artist; I'm a big fan of his. (Somebody told me today that there is a new book being written about Mancini, though it could be just a rumor. (I really like bringing artists like Orpen and Mancini to a wider audience of artists via this website. Thanks again Cynthia for making this happen. ;) )

The portrait is in a private collection, so maybe we will never see it. We should paint our own version, The Orpen Wannabees Wanna sees ;) :bewildere :santa: |
How exciting! I didn't know much about Orpen until you all started mentioning him and posting all these incredible images. Thanks, Linda, for starting this thread. I'm going to have to order some books. (Cynthia, I know I've been saying this for a while--I haven't forgotten.)
