Im feeling better. I never got the tech guy to do anything because after talking to him I realized I had tried to fix the problem and most likely already overwritten most of the jpgs that were there on the hard drive. I did recover a few though.

The good news is - I just found a pdf slide show I created months ago with 69 of my paintings added at top resolution. I havent figured out how to extract the images yet to a seperate file, but I will - at least I know they are there! Between that and the backups Im sure are at the new house I think I'll get almost all of them restored.

Whew. Lesson learned!

I'm not sure how to extract images from a pdf file, but wouldn't you have the original file that went into making the pdf?

Kim,
In both Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader there is a "Select Image" tool in the toolbar. Select that tool and then click on an image in the document. From the right mouse button should be a "copy" or "copy to clipboard" command. Select that option and you will be able to immediately paste the image into a picture editor such as Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop. Then you can save the file to disk. You'll have to do that for each image.
