That was indeed little moi, in the white shirt, having a smashing time. Where else can you go, except the Forum, and discuss the relative merits of Micheal Hardy paints vis-a-vis Blockxs and have someone know what you are talking about.

I just attended the dinner, and not the conference, so I am not informed enough to comment.

Marvin, one of his students and I hit the Boston art hot spots, those being the Boston Museum and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

I was very flattered that Sharon offered to chauffeur myself and Haleh around Boston. I considered this to be no less significant than being given a tour of the Vatican by his eminence Pope John.

After leaving the hotel for the Newbury Street Galleries, Sharon skillfully negotiated the maze like Boston roadways filled with lunatic drivers (Mass. has the highest insurance rates for good reason). Anyways, after about 20 minutes we found ourselves back at the hotel.

Eventually, after making sure we passed every road construction location (NO Left turn permitted!!!) within the city limits we reached our goal, The Museum of Fine Arts!

We did have a blast getting to know each other, the high point (art-wise) being the Boston Museum's inner rotunda, circumvented by beautiful works from Boston School painters such as Tarbell, DeCamp, Benson and of course my all time favorite William McGregor Paxton. (Although I took pictures ,the Paxton is a nude so I won't be posting it here.;C) The low point was the discovery that the museum had removed Paxton's masterpiece, The New Necklace. ???????

Another significant highlight was seeing Sharon's beautiful life size pastel at the Copley Society on Newbury St. Wow!

This day was a great sendoff for the conference and one I won't ever forget. The best part, however, was getting to know Sharon.

Wow, what a great evening that was, and the conference was just better because of it. I especially appreciated feeling comfortable to talk to so many more people while at the conference because of knowing them through the forum

Forum Makeover
 

The last time I saw Linda she was driving a large rig out of Minnesota, and I might add appropriately dressed and groomed. Imagine my surprise, when she showed uo at the dinner looking like a runway model.

Overwhelmed by the presence of greatness, it was hard to keep my concentration on my driving.

I must tell you that Marvin is quite tall, so it was quite an aerobic feat for Haleh, about 5'4" and moi 5' 7" to keep up with him as he buzz-sawed through the Boston Museums devouring any crumbs of the poorly underepresented Boston School he could find. It was rather like a giant hawk with two pigeons scrambling behind him.

I must say, with Marvin's tutelage, my appreciation for the Boston School and its adherants increased. Oddly enough, I WENT to the Boston Museum School and never heard whispers of Paxton, De Camp or Tarbell. Sneaking around various sites trying to unveil their painting secrets, I also discovered an exquisite portrait by Arthur Pope, previously unknown to me.
